Health Services

The Orange County government and the private sector have built some of the finest health care facilities in the nation. The region's high income rate and huge population have also catalyzed the competition, resulting in an effective and accessible balance between private and public health services. Hospitals here specialize in all aspects of medicine and surgery, but some excel in areas like heart care, cancer treatment, and aquatics rehabilitation programs. Orange County is home to more than 15 state of the art hospitals, including Anaheim Memorial Medical Center, Mission Hospital, Anaheim General Hospital, Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, and two dedicated children's facilities: Children's Hospital of Orange County, and Children's Hospital at Mission.

Regional health services also benefit from ongoing medical research at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), and the University of Southern California – Orange County Center. UCI is home to a major research hospital, Irvine Medical Center, which is located off campus in the city of Orange. The Center conducts studies in a wide variety of disciplines, and is known for its excellent geriatrics and gynecology programs.

Outside of medicine and science, Orange County spas have also become a very popular choice among local health services, offering luxury remedies like professional massage, acupuncture, aromatherapy, and naturopathy. Scenic locations for many local spas make full use of this region's agreeable scenery and climate.
