Cost of Living

Residents of the Laguna Beach area and Orange County in general are among the most successful and profiteering people in the country. Per capita salaries and average family incomes here are often several thousand dollars ahead of the national average, while unemployment is generally a fraction of the figures elsewhere. Financial wealth here has led to a steep cost of living, with average household consumer expenditures more than double the national average. While that may seem drastic, it's also part of the reason why the Laguna Beach area does so well. Lucrative jobs in the service and tourism industry are plentiful, and Orange County is in the center of Southern California's Tech Coast, which employs many thousands in high five and six figure jobs.

But Orange County's large population means the area is much more than just a cluster of wealthy gated communities and home to a broad cross-section of businesses and citizens, not all of whom earn higher wages than the national average. With more affordable cities in the northern part of the county, such as Fullerton and Cypress, Orange County is accessible to all who want to enjoy its agreeable climate and prosperity.
