Shopping
If you've got money to spend, Orange County's many fine shops and malls are guaranteed to keep you busy - the only question is where to start. Laguna Beach alone has dozens of indoor and outdoor plazas offering some of California's finest art and fashion. You really can't go wrong in this upscale, well established retail community, where art has been trading hands on a wide scale since the early 1900s.
For a quick primer on where to shop in the Laguna Beach area, here are some popular choices:
Costa Mesa, a mid-sized inland city north of Laguna Beach, is packed with retail commerce featuring the South Coast Plaza shopping center, a mecca for spenders throughout Orange County and beyond, with 322 stores accounting for one of the highest volume shopping centers in the country.
Irvine Spectrum Center, on the south-east edge of Irvine, is an outdoor mall centered on a gigantic Edwards 21 Cinemas movie theatre. The mall was built over a ten year period, finishing in 2006, and offers the full gamut of regular mall chains, as well as regional outlets.
In Laguna Beach, a wide variety of shops dot the cityscape, from antique shops to shoe stores, many of which are easily accessed by foot in the community's quaint downtown. Beyond art and retail, shopping here can also include a stop at one of the city's many fine spas and health centers, including the long established Sue Marie's Day Spa, scenic Laguna Canyon Spa, and Jolie Salon & Spa.
